Welcome to our community: How do you define PEACE?

First of all peace is the absence of war.

Of violence.

What is violence?

Direct, physical violence is very visible.

But also being hurt verbally, or in the invisible manners of hierarchies, structures, cultures.

Okay, if all these kinds of violence wouldn’t be there – how would that be?

There would be harmony between people, inner peace, you would have a good self-esteem and you would love others or at least accept them in there diversity. You could feel safe. You didn’t have to suffer from material lack or from the lack of other things, like lack of love, trust. You would feel free to express yourself – and you would respect the opinions and limits of others.

Many would use conflict as the possibility to create something new and to admire the changes in life. And there would also be anger that would be expressed freely – in a way that does not really hurt others.

There would be a lot of laughing about so-called mistakes. There would be dancing. There would be theatre. There would be celebrating life.

People would share instead of compete and thereby hurt each other. There would be another system than capitalism, a system in which really everybody has equal rights and possibilities to participate – and influence. It would maybe be called democratique, but it would not be our version of representative democracy.

Okay, this is the vision of my absolute peace – but this would have to be mixed with the vision of others – their versions of peace. And hopefully we could construct parts of it together.

In fact we will have something between violences and peace. Gradual peace. And a little violence would be already pretty good for me.
