Do you have any professional experience in the field of peace-research? peace-studies? peace-practice?

I have a post grad studies in Leadership and Foresight with a special interest in empathy and critical reflection.
I have studied and practiced the principles of nonviolence including methods developed by Marshall Rosenberg, Robert Gonzales and Dominic Barter and more recently the Shambala tradtion of compassion and loving kindness.

Are you at all familiar with concepts of Nonviolence and Conflict Transformation?

I have studied and used practices of Restorative Justice and Restorative circles.

What are your primary conceptual interests and concerns

the study of empathy, deep critical reflection and intuition,inspiration and hope.

Heather Lawrence has been a Human Rights Advocate and Peace Activist for more than thirty years.
Her training in Education has led her to work with schools, Early childhood Services and families.
Her extensive experience working with groups includes 15 years at Melbourne University, 25 years with Teachers, Special Education Professionals, and Community Groups in all states of Australia including remote communities in the Kimberley.
Her Post Graduate training includes studies in Indigenous Studies, Post Colonial Theory, and Adult learning theories, Critical Theory, Systems Theory, Strategic Foresight. Methods and Leadership Studies.
She is a trainer and facilitator in Non Violent Communication, (NVC) Parent Effectiveness Training ( PET)  and Theory U and is passionate about transforming ways of communicating in schools, organisations and in families.
Heather also owns a small business producing and working with lifelike Australian animal Puppets.  Her intention is to invite parents, children and practitioners in schools, Family violence and child protection and others to develop empathic capacities toward others including the natural world and themselves.
