And the response from a certain other Castro? Well, you need to read it for yourselves…

Okay, that last half sentence may have been a bit of a cathartic flourish/caricature, but you get where I’m going to with this… 😉

Wow. Superb insights everyone – I’m glad I touched base. I think collectively we can really prise open this issue and try perhaps to delve even deeper than some of the Professor’s existing writings on the issue from the week’s readings. Obama’s speech I found to be a real eye-opener on many levels. Like Luke, I was surprised to hear the sometimes…[Read more]

Sounds good Laura. I guess we can assume the question purposely implies that whatever Obama ‘did’ do in Cuba (if anything), it’s not what he ‘should’ have done? Regards all, Liam
-
I think that’s a slightly more complicated question than we might have thought – the thing is, my preliminary research is indicating that Obama is wanting to do a lot of peace-reparation things with Cuba but that the Congress system is blocking his efforts. So does ‘should have done’ overrule ‘feasible’?
-
Now could be a good time to clarify the different approaches to this question we have each adopted. Because we agreed on 100% therapy for this assignment I have not focused on what Obama did in the recent US and Cuban rapprochement and, though I have accounted for this, instead focused on what Obama instead should have done from a deep…[Read more]

i agree with the focus on the ‘should’ which implies a sense of morality to what Obama ‘could’ have done. I agree with both Laura’s pint about the political-legal structural impediments to any legislative changes towards Cuba and also the historical perspective that underlies the ongoing US hegemony towards Cuba.
One thing I can’t help but think…[Read more]-
Hi Howard,
This ABC interview on youtube with Obama captures a lot of the framing and political rhetoric underpinning the rapprochement. This site won’t let me upload it. The White House also presents this information through its website. It is interesting to note Obama also held an Entrepreneurs Summit while in Cuba, also on youtube. I don’t…[Read more]-

Hi team – Like Carole I have a number of questions. I’d be happy for the session moderator to choose one based on the spread of topics addressed by the other questions that come in.
1. It is apparent there is […]

Many thanks Carole for scoring these and storing them in Docs. They look to be very handy indeed. Nothing like a bit of drip-feeding to keep us on our toes!

Apologies Luke, I missed all those caps. Sorry Howard, we hit the cut-off and went for it. Your comments will not be wasted though. Hopefully with good feedback and guidance from the assessors, we’ll have more opportunities to finesse our collective work as we go along. Talk soon. Cheers all, Liam

Hi guys – well here it is . The text is exactly five pages (not including the bibliography – which is normal). It has a UK entry which touches on the main issues as identified by Luke and Natalee but deliberately […]

Nice work Natalee. I’ve got the final draft in front of me now. Do you want to work in that or send me something to drop in to the draft?

Luke – I think you’ve hit some of the key issues right there! Let me have a crack at doing a quick UK outline along those lines (..and we’ll label as having been assembled by the group in the absence of a […]

Hi all – I’ve had a stab at an intro which explains (I hope) our emphasis on remedies (over analysis and forecasts) as well as inviting plenty of feedback given this our first real crack at engaging this method. See what you reckon. Cheers all, Liam

Thanks Carole, thanks all. Coming together nicely. I’m thinking if we haven’t got a UK entry by tomorrow morning Central European Time we could knock up a very basic section on Britain which we and the others could then flesh out as we receive feedback from Naakow/Keil ahead of the professor’s formal reply on 1-2 April. I think giving the overall…[Read more]

Hi guys – this is Liam representing USA. I haven’t heard from Howard since the Skype chat and I’m suspecting he too may be having difficulty accessing some or all forums on this G-I site. So as not to hold us […]

Hmm, tricky. Your table sure looks to be an effective way to compress the content while maintaining a narrative flow. Have our instructors indicated a preference for one format over another? I’m guessing the table..
-
I’m really just using the table as a guideline Liam – because we’re doing 100% therapy approach, @nataleeq and I are just mapping to get my head around it! I’m pretty sure Niamh wanted a narrative flow, but Niamh @noconno1 can you confirm?
-
I am happy for you guys to work within whatever format is comfortable and easiest for you guys. As long as the formatting is consistent between the four groups then it doesn’t matter to me.

Nice work you guys. I do believe we’re all heading in the same direction!

Thanks Liam! Now we just have to figure out how to condense into one page!
